JAFAX Full Results!
The JAFAX tournament was a huge success! We gave out $563 in prize money and had 60 competitors from Michigan and Indiana. We are definitely going to have another (even better) one next year!
Huge thanks to the folks from JAFAX, they were a pleasure to work with and were accomodating beyond all expectations! We would also like to thank Jay Gary who went to great lengths to provide our stream and be our guest commentator.
You can watch video of the tournament here.

JAFAX Stream
JAFAX is upon us!
Don’t forget this weekend we will be at JAFAXÂ running a badass tournament!
Jim is running some brackets
Trying something new here, I’ve set up some Round Robin tournaments on Challonge for the community that anyone can join and participate in.
For now I’ve done one for each game we’re running at the ranbats, but we can do more if people want.

SSF4 2012:Â http://mifgc.challonge.com/tournaments/signup/4vehtxfvrk
SCV:Â http://mifgc.challonge.com/tournaments/signup/5zwmeet7n4 WHAT IS IT?
An organized way to get more people in the community playing together, in an effort to help each other improve.HOW DOES IT WORK?
Go sign up to participate, you will need to create a Challonge login, please make your username something people can easily identify you by so they’ll know how to get in contact with you and set up your match.Once signups have ended we will have a round robin tournament set up, get with people and set up a time to play your games (online or in person) and record the results.
I don’t want to split or limit this by system, but be warned I think we have more Xbox users. If you can’t find a way to play a match against someone then just move on, when we end the league we’ll record all these matches as draws.
We’ll run this for a few months at least or until all the games are completed, there are no prizes or anything but it will be a good way to see where you stand. If this goes well we can run one every so often and you’ll be able to track your progress.
Round Robins are limited to 40 people, if we go over that we’ll create another tournament and even things out.
FORMAT
Play a first to five match using tournament standard rules (best 2/3, loser can change characters, no gems, etc.)HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS
After you’re done playing have a discussion with your opponent (in person, voice chat, Facebook, etc.) about the series, both of you can talk about your strategies going into the match, how they changed during, tips on the matchup, things to improve on, anything that can help people level up. The more discussion the better, the idea is to get people talking and sharing ideas and feedback.

Michigan Masters – Oct 29th!
When: October 29th Where:Â The Gamerz Lounge Questions? Ask:Â Daniel Streety Details and RSVP here!Webpoll: Donate our setups? |
The date has been moved from the 1st to the 29th, please plan to support the Michigan scene by showing up to this!
This is the annual tournament East Michigan has been throwing after their RanBat seasons. Usually the top two players of the day (who haven’t already qualified) get to play in a special exhibition tournament afterwards with other top Michigan players who qualified during the course of the East Michigan RanBats.
Digging the new venue!
GrandLAN seems to be a good fit. Plenty of room, just enough privacy, creepy haunted house attached.
